Thelma was 22 years old when she was surrendered to a local pound, where she was scheduled to be euthanized. Her former owners decided not to pursue treatment at a veterinary clinic, leaving her fate uncertain and time running out.

But when staff performed initial examinations, they discovered something unexpected — despite her age, Thelma was stable. Frail, yes. Underweight and matted, certainly. But she wasn’t ready to give up.

Just hours before it was too late, Best Friends Felines learned about her situation and stepped in to save her. She was immediately welcomed into their palliative care program for senior cats, where she finally received the medical attention she desperately needed. Treatment for thyroid imbalance and painful dental disease helped her regain comfort, and with proper nutrition, she slowly began to gain weight and strength.

As the days passed, Thelma’s gentle personality began to shine. She grew fond of curling up in plush blankets, basking in patches of warm sunlight, and carrying a small teddy bear like a treasured companion. Even after undergoing delicate surgery, she showed remarkable resilience.

Today, Thelma lives in peace — safe, cherished, and surrounded by love.

The cat who was once cast aside is now experiencing the comfort and dignity she deserved all along. 🐾💛
