WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR BODY WHEN YOU EAT A BANANA BEFORE SLEEPING

WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR BODY WHEN YOU EAT A BANANA BEFORE SLEEPING

Have you ever woken up in the morning with that rumbling in your stomach that keeps you from going back to sleep?

Or, on the contrary, have you ever gone to bed with your mind racing? Well, it turns out the solution to both problems might lie in that yellow fruit that's usually in the kitchen fruit drawer: the banana.

Eating a banana before bed isn't crazy at all; quite the opposite. This food is like a little nutritional treasure that works while you rest. It's rich in tryptophan, an essential amino acid that the body uses to produce serotonin and melatonin. Basically, tryptophan is the raw material

your brain needs to make the hormones of relaxation and sleep. So, if you eat one, you're giving your body just what it needs to start winding down.

In addition, it's loaded with magnesium and potassium. These two minerals are known to be natural muscle relaxants. After a long day, muscles are often tense or crampy. A banana helps relieve tension, sending a clear signal that it's time to unwind. The fruit's natural sugar also helps stabilize blood glucose levels, preventing those adrenaline spikes that sometimes wake us up in the middle of the night.

Okay, don't try to overindulge. For it to be effective and not counterproductive, it's best to eat it at the right time and with the right preparation.

Recipes and instructions for the evening: The calming smoothie (30-45 minutes before bed): Instead of eating the banana alone, peel and freeze it. At night, blend it with a splash of warm milk (almond and vegetable milk work well). The hot and cold mixture creates a very comforting pudding-like texture. The warm milk enhances the relaxing effect. Drink it slowly, in bed or on the sofa.

Sweet toast for dinner (2 hours before): If you eat dinner early and then get hungry, a good option is whole-wheat toast with thin slices of banana and a drizzle of honey or cinnamon. Cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar. This prevents you from going to bed on an empty stomach, but without the heaviness of a large dinner.

However, be careful. If you are prone to heartburn or acid reflux, going to bed might not be your best friend, as feeling heavy can cause discomfort. In that case, eat it at least an hour and a half before bedtime. In short, a banana at night can be that little push your body needs to fall asleep naturally.
